Many things happen at the Ager House to support the mission of the
association and enrich the quality of life in Eau Claire and in the
Chippewa Valley. The following are just some of those “happenings” that
just don’t “happen” but were the result of dedicated work by association
members and the board of directors from October 2010 through October 2011.
- Hosting he Annual “Advent at the Ager” [unfortunately cancelled due to heavy snow]
- Hosting the 2010 annual/membership meeting celebrating Hardanger Fiddle Music
- Participating in UWEC International Folk Fair
- Sponsoring a three day rosemaling class with gold medalist Nancy Schmidt
- Leading the 2011 Syttende Mai Celebration committee with Sons of Norway and Norden Folk
- Sponsoring 2011 winter language and folk art classes
- Hosting a house tour and lecture for a UWEC Women’s Study class
- Continuing to catalog the collection for the Ager Resource Library [now at 1000 volumes]
- Hosting non-constituent art groups each Tuesday and Thursday morning at the Ager House
- Sponsoring the Ager Rosemaling drop-in group every Friday
- Hosting a tour of the Ager House for the Rice Lake Scandinavian Folk arts Group
- Translating material from the Reform and/or letters as requested by members and non-members
- Co-hosting the annual National Kubb Tournament in July
- Hosting a review/documentation of Ager Folk Art program by Wisconsin State Historical Society
- Participating as a “cornerstone” in the West Riverside Neighborhood Planning
- Hosting a spring membership Kubb event
- Hosting several reading groups
- Sponsoring a three day Rosemaling class with gold medalist Irene Lamont
- Preparing an inventory of the Ager House contents
- Sponsoring fall 2011 language and folk art classes
- Maintaining the house, collections, and yard with many hours of volunteer time
