Waldemar Ager Association Special Funds

Endowment: Several years ago generous gifts from members and other donations allowed us to establish the Waldemar Ager Endowment Fund. The endowment continues to grow with additional gifts and earnings from the invested funds. By board action, all principal and earnings are retained and reinvested. As the fund grows, someday the interest from this fund will help support the Association's goals.

Dishes: In 1999, the Ager Association received a generous gift of flatware, food preparation items, and large serving pieces from the Kohler Family Windway Foundation. In 2007, forty dinner plates and cups in the Fasett pattern of Porsgrund porcelain were purchased with money from the “Dishes” fund. They have been used for several occasions during the year. It is hoped that the set can be expanded in the future to include dessert plates as well as more dinner plates and cups to accommodate the various groups and special events taking place at the Ager House.

Genealogy/Family history: If the second floor library is to become a center for genealogy and family history research, special equipment, materials, and connection to the internet will be required. This fund will underwrite these costs.

Meeting room tables and chairs: While the used folding tables and chairs acquired from two local churches have served the Association well, seating arrangements for many new activities are restricted by the eight-foot long tables, and day- or week-long programs require more comfortable seating. Our goal is to purchase a variety of four foot and six foot long folding tables and comfortable seating from this fund.

General: Donations to this fund supplement membership dues, which are currently the only source of funding for the ongoing operation of the organization. This includes the cost of utilities, snow removal, lawn maintenance, basic maintenance of the house, and costs such as printing of membership newsletters, postage for mailings to members, and telephone.

Translation, Publication, Books: This fund finances translation and publication of Waldemar Ager's works, a basic mission of the Association, and the purchase of books by other authors that are also appropriate to the Association's mission. Once a book is translated and published, income from the sale of the book provides finances for future reprinting.

Library: The Ager Association was fortunate to receive grants and memorials from the family of Genevieve and Harold Hagen to fund the basic renovation of the second floor of the Ager House for a library. Additional financial support from this fund will be used for furniture and special equipment not included in the original funding.

Special programs: In recent years special programs have been sponsored by the Ager Association to further the mission and goals of the organization. Although we have been fortunate to receive grants to fund many of these programs, a condition of the grants requires the Association to match the amount received. This fund will provide "seed money" for the required matching funds. Income from a successful event will replenish this fund.

Furnishings: Occasionally, furniture or artifacts that are appropriate for the restoration of the Ager House become available. This fund will allow the acquisition of those pieces based on recommendations of the Interiors Committee and approval by the Board of Directors.
